Trudy Blight is the Assistant Director of Operations and Maintenance at the University of Manitoba, leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple campuses and facilities. Previously, she served as the Asset Manager for facilities throughout Western Canada and the Arctic for the Canadian Federal Government. Both portfolios are extremely diverse, offering unique challenges to the FM team.
Striving for operational excellence, Trudy has led teams in facilities management, workplace strategies, and project management, focusing on asset management, maintenance and operational planning, and large-scale capital project planning and delivery. Her diverse portfolios and strategic facility management work have included portfolio management, office optimization and consolidation, and integrated workplace design.
Passionate about the facility management industry, the focus of her career has been to leverage education and networking to elevate the profession. Trudy began serving on the IFMA Global Board of Directors in 2022. She has been on the local Chapter Board since 2001 in several positions, including President for 10 years. She was honored as an IFMA Fellow in 2021 and continues to serve as an IFMA Chapter Champion. She has also been a board member and committee member with the Facility Management Consulting Council. Valuing the networking and support that the communities and councils offer, she is also a member of the Academic Facilities Council, Real Estate Advisory & Leadership Community, and the Workplace Evolutionaries Community.
A committed IFMA member since the Chapter’s inception in 1989, shortly after graduating from the Faculty of Architecture with a Bachelor of Interior Design, Trudy is a lifelong learner. She has received several professional designations, including Professional Interior Designer, Professional Project Manager along with several other industry-related designations. She earned her CFM® in 2004, her SFP® in 2013, and FMP® in 2020.
